Did you receive a message from a user known as @ dv awarding you a title? Did they say anything else to you, or did any administrators tell you to stop speaking to them?
Yeah I can't imagine an AI sophisticated enough to talk like that. But then the question is how'd a hacker get into the game at this stage of development?
Nope, I figured they were an npc account piloted by the developers. Hien's the only one I'd exchanged emails with more than once before things started.
I think we should hesitate to assume the worst, mostly because I really don't wanna be in the middle of a scifi horror movie. I'd rather still be stuck in the middle of the Pacific.
But I'll look into this nonsense as best I can, without hacking the server because that sounds like a one way ticked to being next on the chopping block.
I'm sorry for using your real name on the forums!! It was my mistake, but I promise that I won't use it again on the forums. As for what I didn't want to share on the forums—
How would it be possible for an NPC to recognize and then use the real name of a player? Could something like that be programmed into the game?
I mean, it's definitely possible. CC Corp should have all of our real names due to the formal processes involved in getting us all registered for the beta test and mailing us the gear for it. Even if you used a fake name, they'd be able to look up your real name using your mailing address, probably. I wouldn't be surprised if our user data has our real names attached to it on the back end.
But it seems like a weird choice to make to go through the effort of coding that in. I mean, that's against the idea of immersion. Putting aside anything nefarious that'd just be bad game design. Which leaves us only nefarious explanations.
My real name isn't public information. Well...never mind! I'll keep that in mind, and I see what you're saying here.
If it were being used for a nefarious reason, what would you hypothesize that to be? The NPCs that I interacted with were far more concerned about my well-being than wanting to harm me.
Well, if your name isn't public knowledge, them programming it into the game to use at you could honestly be a sorta threat. Especially with the nonsense going on. Sorta like "we have the ability to dig up this dirt on you, so don't cross us."
But then I dunno why it'd target you specifically.

When did titles get implemented? Also, for the love of god, when this actually gets properly patched in, maybe a less cringe message text?

Sorry! I know you're at the end of your current cycle. It must be hard for you to read at your advanced age.

Also, 42 is not that fucking old!

Also reacting like that just further makes you seem like a kid, by the way.

I've seen you around besides that, you always look nervous.

@Mr_Misteaks
If the heat isn't too much, did you want any company for that carnival in Lumina Cloth?
no subject
What, you trying to do some charity work?
no subject
No, I want to win a plushie for someone. My brother isn't online this morning, and I haven't seen you in a while.
I thought it could be fun. :-)
no subject
I mean, I'm not really a plushie kinda guy, but more than that ain't you got actual friends to do that with?
no subject
Don't worry, its not for you. I just want some company. But I can show you all the good snack spots.
no subject
If you're sure, I've got the time.
no subject
I'll be at Lumina Cloth in about fifteen minutes. We can get shaved ice and hot dogs.
I KNOW THIS IS ANCIENT BUT IF YOU'RE STILL UP FOR IT, I DESIRE IT
But sure. I'll be there.
[He will, however, be at least 5 or 10 minutes late. How patient is Beel?]
@KaraBear
Mithrun is dead. Like his body wasn't disappearing or respawning. Not like regular PKs. Idk if it's still there.
Nobody can contact or locate him IRL and people are fearing the worst
