One of my sets was rather nice, though I don't know why it held any meaning for me before.

My first one was a mess, though. Literally. My tome had bloody handprints all over it.

Bloody handprints? Gory. Did some of that get on you?

No. But my robes turned red too, but it was the color of dried blood.

[ A full minute passes before Fai sends another message. He... doesn't know why he knows that color so viscerally, and it makes him pause. ]

Even now, something about it makes me feel sick. But I'm probably getting in my own head about that.

No... You're probably onto something.

It probably had to do with all that stuff people keep saying we've forgotten. From the "outside." I remember my other armor reminding me of specific things, but when I try to think back on it I can't place it.

I know you probably don't remember, but whatever the blood was supposed to mean... I'm sorry.

My other armor filled me with joy before. Now I feel nothing. I'm not so sure what was special about it.

[ But that's what happens when you completely lose a passion you had. ]

Is it bad that a part of me hopes that I never remember? I know it's running away, but it's certainly not a good memory.

[ Though it's part of him too, and he can't exactly abandon that. ]

The armor I'm trying to get rid of? When I'd look at it in the mirror, it would be covered in blood. I don't know what it means, but I'm not really all that interested in finding out, either.

I wouldn't be either, to tell you the truth.

I can't imagine it's anything good. I can't say if it's a good thing to not remember, but with everything else going on, it's one less piece of stress you have to deal with, I suppose.

My thoughts exactly. It's a blessing in a way.

I can't let mysteries bother me when we've got more important things to take care of.

There's no reason why you can't solve those mysteries along the way, you know.

[ They're similar enough that Fai feels like he knows exactly what that smile means, and it certainly isn't optimism. ]
