( That's a good question Mithrun hadn't considered. )
I'm asking around. So far, everyone who's said they received a message from @ dv has been someone who was involved in the glitch.
As for why... Revealing themself is risky, but they did anyway. They may have been hoping to make contact. Make allies? There may be something they want to accomplish but can't accomplish alone. It's possible our participation in the glitch made them consider us compatible with that goal, somehow.
And what could their goal be? They seemed to think we were all good friends. [ Which is weird, because in that pile only Oria and Mithrun1 could be considered his friends.] I wouldn't be surprised if some hacker was doing something on behalf of a company, but they'd have to be really good and have a lot of time and money. And it'd have to be more than one person.
By now, I've gotten a response from everyone involved in the weapon glitch. Everyone has encountered @ dv, but not everyone was intercepted by an administrator. Administrator response seemed to indicate this user may be a threat to our systems. Some players reported the individual as childish, and unfond of Hien in particular.
I suspect this individual, or these individuals, may be linked to someone or something higher in the hierarchy than our current administrators. Else, they might have a better idea of what it is. Zelkova's responses seem to indicate that he and Hien were currently unclear on its source of nature, with the resources available to them at their level.

[It's unsettling, regardless]

The message did seem a little young
