None of us are clairvoyant. You can only take the course of action you think is best in the moment and have the confidence to move forward whatever the outcome. I find regrets rather unnecessary, so I tend not to think in terms of 'worth' and simply observe at the results to adjust if needed.

I think it would be a good outcome if they were able to become useful to themselves. Easy-to-use things are nice to have, but there's nothing special about them. Challenges are much more enriching.

Endlessly struggling, and never giving up on trying to take some idyllic form they can't reach and cannot bring themselves to be. Yes, I think that would be quite appealing.
Do you not find that struggle to survive the very epitome of what we are as humans? I think it's cute.
